Lifeline Northern Cape is running a campaign that focuses on educating young men in the Northern Cape communities about the reality of gender based violence, bullying, toxic masculinity and empowering boys into healthy adulthood.
The campaign has seen success but is unfortunately largely unfunded and thus needs your support in order to continue.
Men and Boys become Champions for Change and advocates for the rights and protection of women in the Northern Cape.
Objectives of the programme:
1. Reductions in bullying.
2. Working with men and boys to challenge stereotypes and norms that justify violence.
3. Reductions in physical, emotional, or sexual violence victimization by peers.
4. Reductions in aggression and delinquency during adolescence.
5. Increases in positive parent-child interactions.
6. Strengthening responsibility and accountability.
7. Empowering boys into healthy adulthood.
The programme targets young boys (ages 10 - 14) and adolescent boys (ages 15 - 18).
We believe that if the behaviour and attitude of men is changed, there will be less incidents of gender-based violence in our communities.
