CoronaCare for South Africa

Health & Medical
To support CoronaCare, you can donate here - https://coronacare.live/donate/ As we all know, the world is facing an unprecedented pandemic with the rapid spread of the Corona virus, or Covid-19. South Africa has had the advantage of seeing what can happen if the virus is not properly contained. We have also seen shelves begin to empty, and basic products such as soaps and hand sanitizers beginning to deplete. We cannot ignore the fact that we live in one of the world's most unequal countries. How will those unable to stockpile be able to feed their families in the coming weeks and months? How will informal workers purchase groceries when social distancing impacts their income? How will the elderly in townships, one of the most vulnerable groups to infection, be protected? As Cyril Ramaphosa said when he addressed the nation, "Those who have resources, those who are healthy, need to assist those who are in need and who are vulnerable." CoronaCare is an invitation to all South Africans to support one another in this challenging time. We are a match-making platform, connecting concerned South Africans with organisations on the ground supporting those in need. Those wishing to contribute can do so either through cash donations via this crowdfunding page , or through dropping off goods at one of our designated spots. We are identifying organisations to partner with that are able to distribute the necessary products to old-age homes, orphanages, schools, soup kitchens and will update our site with this info accordingly. Our first partnerships are with: - Afrika Tikkun who is working tirelessly on the ground with vulnerable youth in Alexandra and Diepsloot, among other places. More info here: afrikatikkun.org - LivCurious, a project management company focused on Social Impact, will be working with people having to still go to work from under resourced areas and Masibulele Educare Centre in Khayelitsha, who are having to keep their doors open as many of the children’s parents still have to go to work. (For updates: Instagram @livcurious_) Ideal donations include but are not limited to: - hand sanitizers - soaps - basic groceries - Vitamin C and other immune boosting products - Disinfectants - Masks - Non-perishable goods like pilchards, tinned veg, long-life milk etc. - Staples like pap, bread and rice - Toilet Paper If you would like to donate, our designated drop-off spots for now can be found on our website which shall be live shortly or on our Facebook Page below: CoronaCare Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/CoronaCareSA
