Overview
At the Cape Town French School, social responsibility is not just a lesson — it’s a lived experience. Between 2019 and 2020, the school ran a series of five student-led campaigns focused on sustainability, empathy, and community action. These initiatives were designed to cultivate active citizenship among learners and to embed environmental awareness, kindness, and solidarity into the school culture.
Whether by improving their physical environment, supporting vulnerable communities, or advocating for everyday acts of compassion, students were encouraged to take ownership — and make a difference.
The Project
Partnering with Brownie Points, the school digitised its impact tracking across all campaigns, enabling learners to log activities, reflect on their contributions, and visualise the collective effect of their efforts.
Each campaign carried a unique theme:
- Well-Being (Bien-Être) – Create a welcoming and caring school environment
- Solidarity (Solidarité) – Support, help, and share with others in need
- Eco-School – Take meaningful action to protect the environment
- Kindness (Prendre soin les uns des autres) – Acts of empathy in daily life
- Take Ownership – Care for shared spaces and school surroundings
During Solidarity Week, students partnered with Ladles of Love to prepare peanut butter and jam sandwiches for people facing hunger during lockdown — demonstrating real-world compassion during a national crisis.
