DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANISATION LifeLine Northern Cape is a registered non-profit public benefit organisation with Section 18A status and BBBEE accreditation. The Organisation has been operating in the Frances Baard, John Taolo Gaetsewe, ZF Mcgawu and Pixley ka Seme Districts since 2009 when we started our Peer Education Programme. In 2012 LifeLine Northern Cape extended their services to run special programmes for Key and Vulnerable groups as per the National Strategic Plan 2017-2022. Emotional wellness/counselling is LifeLine’s sphere of expertise and we have a history of providing these services, as well as established infrastructure and professionals to ensure we achieve a high level of excellence in our service delivery via our mobile HCT services, non-medical sites and our teams assisting at the Thuthuzela Care Centre under the auspices of our Victim Empowerment Programme (VEP). AFFILIATION: We are affiliated to LifeLine South Africa and LifeLine International and we are also a member of the Shukumisa Coalition. LifeLine Northern Cape has a Community Dialogue Approach, through its Building Community Heart Programme, which is currently being implemented in various parts of South Africa. OUR MISSION: LifeLine aims, in line with the culture of human rights, to cultivate and grow emotional wellness in individuals and communities • By healing emotional trauma and crisis through counselling • By reducing emotional trauma and crisis through training and capacity-building, engaging and mobilising communities • By seeking to understand the unique dynamics, strengths and challenges each community faces • To actively break down the barriers that lead to stigma & discrimination to support sustainable social change and emotional wellness AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF ORGANISATION a. Reducing all forms of Sexual & Gender Based Violence through a holistic approach utilizing different intervention strategies, eg. prevention, care and support programmes b. Promoting positive social and sexual behaviour change in communities with special focus on young & adolescent girls and boys to build knowledge and skills and to reduce unplanned pregnancies and risk for HIV infection c. Deepening, through dialogue, the understanding of issues such as stigma around HIV and AIDS, TB, STIs, Sex Work and Lesbian Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, A-sexual (LGBTIQA+) and Gender Non-Conforming Communities d. Promoting HIV Testing Services amongst communities in order to contribute to the reduction of the spread of HIV in South Africa in line with the 90-90-90 strategy e. Promoting Human Rights for Key and Vulnerable groups f. Enhancing community responsibilities and ownership through dialogues g. Providing community-based health care services with our wellness clinic and mobile clinic services h. Promoting community’s participation in their local area development programmes
